MLB Player Props & Best Bets Today: Will Paxton Add to Giants’ Struggles vs. Lefties?iv class=”bodyContent col-lg-9 mb-3″>

It's yet another opportunity for teams to diagnose whether or not they want to be buyers or sellers, or stand pat before Tuesday's upcoming trade deadline. Read on for our top MLB prop picks and best bets for Saturday based on the best MLB odds from our best MLB betting sites.

One example of a team possibly playing their way out of being sellers is the Chicago Cubs, who have an MLB-best active seven-game winning streak and are now just 4.5 games back in the NL Central and 3.5 games out of a wild-card spot. And five of the six division races remain tight, as all but the NL East has three or fewer games separating first and second place.

Here are our top MLB prop picks and best bets for Saturday (odds via DraftKings and PointsBet; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Saturday's MLB prop picks

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo has struggled mightily in his career against Baltimore Orioles righty Tyler Wells, going just 1-for-18 with eight strikeouts. Rizzo is also slashing jus t .173/.239/.235 over the last 30 days, with just three of his 14 hits in that span going for extra bases.

Rizzo to go hitless is worth the plus-money odds at PointsBet (Caesars is lower at +127), considering he has cashed the Over on a 1.5 total bases prop twice in the last 22 games, and has gone hitless in six of his previous nine.

Since June 30, the Boston Red Sox are an MLB-best 16-5. And they entered Friday ranked second in the American League in runs (119) and stolen bases (24) and first in average (.297), OBP (.353), slugging (.509), and OPS (.862) in that span.

The Red Sox should provide plenty of run support for James Paxton when facing a San Francisco Giants lineup that has struggled against left-handed pitching. The Giants rank 27th in wRC+, 28th in BB/K rate, and 29th in OPS against southpaws this season.

This is a three-star play, as Bos ton has cashed the Over on its team total in 18 of its previous 30 road games (+5.25 units, 16% ROI), while San Francisco's team total Over is 7-20 in the last 27 games (-15.90 units, -51% ROI).

The only other shop that has odds for this wager as of this writing is PointsBet, who is slightly lower at +135.

Seattle Mariners first baseman Mike Ford ranks second on the team with a .837 OPS against right-handed pitching this season (min. 120 ABs). In addition, Ford has driven in 23 RBIs in 119 at-bats against righties, which is the best RBI/AB rate among all qualified Mariners hitters.

Ford now faces Arizona Diamondbacks rookie Brandon Pfaadt, who has allowed a .338 OBA and 1.94 WHIP to left-handed batters. Pfaadt has served up half of his 12 home runs to lefties, and his career 8.81 ERA suggests Seattle should be in store for plenty of runs.

DraftKings is our go-to shop, as Caesars and FanDuel offer +173 and +160 odds, respectively.

Saturday's MLB game picks

ESPN Stats & Info explained how the Cincinnati Reds have been extremely fortunate to win games when Luke Weaver toes the rubber lately, despite how poorly he has pitched. However, while the Reds have averaged 7.8 runs per game in Weaver's last 10 starts, their offense has not produced nearly as well of late.

Cincinnati ranks dead-last in the majors in wRC+ and 24th or worse in BABIP and OPS over the last 14 days. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers rank in the top eight of all those categories in that span, and their 11-6 record since July 5 is second-best among all NL teams. This is a four-star play, as the Dodgers have covered the runline in 10 of those wins and 57.7% of their league games (41-30).

Draft Kings is the only sportsbook where one can lay the -1.5 runs with Los Angeles at lower than -110 odds.
