The latest edition of the Subway Series begins Tuesday as the slumping New York Yankees visit the surging New York Mets for the opener of their two-game series at Citi Field. The Yankees (52-28) occupy first place in the American League East but are in the midst of a stretch during which they have lost seven of 10 games. Meanwhile, the Mets (37-39) have disappointed thus far this season but have won 13 of their last 17 contests. The crosstown rivals have split their four-game season series each of the last two years.
