The latest edition of the Subway Series begins Tuesday as the slumping New York Yankees visit the surging New York Mets for the opener of their two-game series at Citi Field. The Yankees (52-28) occupy first place in the American League East but are in the midst of a stretch during which they have lost seven of 10 games. Meanwhile, the Mets (37-39) have disappointed thus far this season but have won 13 of their last 17 contests. The crosstown rivals have split their four-game season series each of the last two years. For Tuesday, reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole takes the mound for the Yankees opposite David Peterson for the Mets.
