Mississippi State at Missouri Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/21/23

The Mississippi State Bulldogs will head up to Columbia to meet the Missouri Tigers in conference play from the Mizzou Arena on the SEC Network. Mississippi State leads the head-to-head series, 13-5, after winning the last seven meetings.

Mississippi State improved to 18-9 after taking down Ole Miss in Oxford. The Bulldogs brawled with the Rebels for three periods, and they pulled away in overtime to beat their in-state rivals by eight, 69-61. Mississippi State is scoring 64.9 points per game, while allowing 58.7 ppg, and shooting 40.7% from the floor.

Mississippi State responded to a five-game skid by winning six of their last seven games, and completing the season sweep over Mizzou here would really help their bubble case. The Bulldogs are 6-8 with a 4-4 road record. Senior forward Tolu Smith (14.9 ppg, 8.3 rpg) has put the team on his back during this stretch, and he gave the Tigers all kinds of trouble in the first meeting with a 25-point double-double. Veteran guard Dashawn Davis scored a game-high 17 points in the win over Arkansas, and he leads the team in assists (3.4), while scoring 8.6 ppg. Former Memphis forward D.J. Jeffries joins Smith up front, and he’s averaging 8.8 ppg and 6.0 rpg.
