Mississippi St vs. LSU Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-17-2022

The Mississippi State Bulldogs (2-0, 2-0 ATS, 1-1 O/U) take on the LSU Tigers (1-1, 1-1 ATS, 1-1 O/U) in an SEC showdown on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs remained undefeated after topping Arizona last week. The Tigers rebounded from their week one defeat with a win against Southern in their previous action. LSU posted a 28-25 road win against Mississippi State last season.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are looking good, especially from an offensive standpoint. They were 17-point favorites in a 49-23 home win against Memphis to begin the season and covered the 13 points spread in a 39-17 road win at Arizona last week. This is definitely a squad to watch now that conference play has arrived. They were projected to finish 6th in the preseason poll.

Will Rogers is going to have a monster season. The junior QB had a remarkable 4739 passing yards last year and has been dominant in two games, accumulating 763 passing yards and a 9:2 TD to INT ratio. Rogers tossed three TD passes against LSU last year.

The Bulldogs have two good RBs in Dillon Johnson and Jo’Quavious Marks. Johnson had nearly 500 rushing yards in 2021 and has recorded 126 yards in two games, while Marks has 89 yards. Rara Th omas has been outstanding so far. The sophomore WR logged 252 receiving yards in 2021 and already has 144 in two clashes this year. The Bulldogs have three WRs with at least 100 yards.

The Mississippi State defense has been effective in their two victories. They held Memphis to only 294 total yards and 316 yards against Arizona last week. The pass defense has been subpar, landing them 71st, while the rush defense is tabbed 32nd through two games. The Bulldogs have collected 88 points in two bouts, good for 23rd overall. The defense has allowed 40 points, placing them 50th in the FBS.
