Minnesota Wild vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-15-2023

The Minnesota Wild face the St. Louis Blues with both teams heading in opposite directions this season. The Wild have a 38-21-8 record and with seven wins in the last 10 games, have leaped into second place in the Central Division. The Blues have a 29-32-5 record and with only three wins in the last 10 games have fallen to the bottom of the Western Conference. Both teams look to improve in the Central Division and the conference and the upcoming game looks to be a good one.

The Wild are having a great season but hope their offense can improve, scoring only 2.81 goals per game. Kirill Kaprizov, Mats Zuccarello, and Joel Eriksson Ek have scored 83 goals and 102 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up at well. The hope is that Ryan Hartman and Sam Steel can step up as they play a pivotal role in the forward unit but have only scored 18 goals and 31 assists on the season thus far.

The offense has struggled but the defense has been one of the best in the NHL, allowing only 2.60 goals per game with only 14 goals in the last eight games. Jared Spurgeon and Jacob Middleton have combined for 10.6 defensive point shares and 270 blocked shots while Mathew Dumba and Jonathon Merrill have combined for 5.1 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Filip Gustavsson has been great with a .931 save percentage and a 2.01 goals-against average on 882 shots with 22.8 goals saved above average.
