The Minnesota Wild face the Edmonton Oilers with both teams looking to improve in the Western Conference. The Wild have a 13-10-2 record and are in the middle of the Central Division while the Oilers have a 15-12 record and are in fourth place in the Pacific Division. Both teams are looking to improve within their divisions and the Western Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Wild are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.12 goals per game with 19 goals in the last four games. Kirill Kaprizov, Mats Zuccarello, and Joel Eriksson Ek have scored 34 goals and 46 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Matt Boldy, Mason Shaw, and Frederick Gaudreau have combined for 17 goals and 20 assists while defensemen Calen Addison and Jared Spurgeon have added four goals and 20 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has let the Wild down, allowing 3.12 goals per game including 14 goals in the last three games. Jared Spurgeon and Jacob Middleton have combined for 3.5 defensive point shares and 95 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and find open shots on the net. In addition, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has struggled in the net with a .892 save percentage and a 3.10 goals-against average on 474 shots.
