Heading into Monday night's game at Pittsburgh, the Minnesota Wild have won three straight games and climbed back to the .500 mark on the season. On Saturday, the Wild were able to upend Vancouver 2-1 with a shootout victory. Mats Zuccarello scored the game-winner in the shootout to help support goalie Filip Gustavsson. Gustavsson was outstanding with 35 saves on the night. Frederick Gaudreau scored the regulation goal for the Wild who have now won two straight shootout games. The Wild improved to 7-2 under new head coach John Hynes. Hynes' attention to detail defensively has helped the Wild to have a league-leading 1.56 goals allowed per game since he has taken over. Gustavsson in particular has been outstanding in that time, going 6-1 with a 1.26 GAA.

“How we are playing now, it feels more comfortable,” Gustavsson said. “Earlier in the year, if we were in these types of games, it didn&#x 2019;t feel like we created as many chances and it didn’t feel like we could score in these types of games. Now it feels like we’re still creating the chances. The other goalie has played very well and you just have to wait for the chances to go in.”

The Wild are 22nd in the NHL in goals per game this season. They are 19th in shooting percentage and just 23rd on the power-play. The Wild's concerted approach on defense since Hyne has taken over has been important given the team's inability to get off shots, ranked 27th in the NHL. The Wild are just 29th in the NHL on the penalty kill but have improved to 18th in the NHL in GAA. They are 24th in the NHL in shots allowed and 20th in save percentage on the season.

Key Injuries: D Jared Surgeon is out.
