After an 0-3 start to the season, the Wild needed a win as they played host to the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night. Trailing 3-2 entering the third period, the Wild looked dangerously close to their fourth loss in a row to start the season. Instead, Mats Zuccarello scored his second goal of the game to tie things in the third period and Kirill Kaprizov scored 3:02 into overtime to complete the comeback for the Wild's first win of their season-opening four-game home stand. Sam Steel also scored for Minnesota in the win. 37-year old netminder Marc-Andre Fleury turned away 23 of the 26 shots he faced in the game.

“To get a win like that, you just believe, or hope and believe that’ll push us forward to do what we do,” Wild coach Dean Evason said. “We still lost our composure in a lot of areas in tonight’s hockey game, which is uncharacteristic, but I guess probably expected when we’re squeezing so tight. Hopefully, this allows us to loosen up a bit.”

It was a disappointing home stand for the Wild, who were outscored 23-16 in the four games. The Wild have 147 shots on net through four games and have scored on 10.9% of their shots. Kaprizov and Zuccarello lead the team with eight points in total and four goals each. Defenseman Jacob Middleton leads the team with a +3 thus far and is one of only two players on the team with a plus rating. Fleury and Filip Gustavsson have both struggled in net, with a combined 5.75 GAA and just an .833 save percentage.

Key Injuries: LW Jordan Greenway remains out while D Jon Merrill may return against Boston.
