Minnesota (7-18 SU, 10-13-2 ATS, 1-14 B10) returns to conference actions when they travel to College Park to take on Maryland (18-9 SU, 17-10 ATS, 9-7 B10) on Wednesday night at 7pmET from Xfinity Center.

These teams met on Feb. 4 with the Terps cruising to an 81-46 road win.

Minnesota last won a basketball game on Jan. 12 when they upset Ohio State 70-67 on the road as a 14-point underdog. That win broke a two-game losing streak. Due to injuries and lack of talent, they've gone on to lose 10 straight games including two defeats to Illinois. They last played on Feb. 20 when they fell at the Illini 78-69 as a 13.5-point underdog. Jamison Battle had a great game with 31 points, while Dawson Garcia added 18. The problem for the Gophers is that they allowed Illinois to shoot 48% from the field and 38% (10-of-26) from beyond the arc.

The good news for Minnesota is that Garcia returned two games after missing five games due to an ankle injury. The 6-11 former North Carolina and Marquette transfer is averaging 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds to lead the Gophers. Even with Garcia, Minnesota has had defensive issues all season long. They rank 12th in field goal defense (47%) and 14th and last place in the Big 10 in three-point defense (39.8%). They don't defend the three-point shot and they don't shoot it well (28.9%). Fortunately, they are playing a Maryland team that doesn't shoot the three ball well (31.3%). They also rank 13th in rebounding margin (-4.9) and 14th in turnover margin (-3.60>.
