Minnesota Twins vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-16-2023

Minnesota Twins (23-18) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (26-15)

The Major League Baseball betting action goes on Tuesday, May 16, with the Minnesota Twins squaring off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the interleague clash at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, and the first pitch is set for 10:10 PM ET.

Minnesota and Los Angeles continue a three-game series, and Monday’s opener has been excluded from this preview. The Dodgers are firm -181 moneyline favorites for Tuesday’s battle, while the Twins are +166 road dogs with a total of 8.0 runs.

The 23-18 Minnesota Twins entered Monday’s game at Petco Park searching for their third straight victory. Last Sunday, the Twins wrapped up a six-game homestand with a 16-3 dismantling of the Chicago Cubs. During that stretch, the Twins have won a couple of three-game series over the San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs, dropping an opening clash of each of those two sets.

Minnesota is scoring 4.66 runs per game (11th in the majors) on a .228/.307/.407 triple-slash. The Twins are hitting a sturdy .271/.348/.507 with ten home runs and 19 doubles in the last seven days and 207 at-bats, and Alex Kirilloff has gone 8-for-19 with a couple of dingers in that span. Joey Gallo also has a pair of no-doubters in the last seven days, while Carlos Correa is 7-for-26 with four d oubles, a home run, and eight RBI over his last six outings.

Bailey Ober will take the mound Tuesday in Los Angeles, and the 27-year-old right-hander is 2-0 with a sparkling 1.85 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 22/6 K/BB ratio in four starts (24.1 innings pitched) this season. Last Thursday, Ober threw six innings in a no-decision against the Padres, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out six. He’s now in the 69th percentile in expected batting average and the 38th percentile in expected slugging percentage.
