Minnesota Twins vs. Los Angeles Angels Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-14-2022

The Minnesota Twins close out their first series meeting with the Los Angeles Angels in Sunday’s finale of the three-game meeting. Road struggles have been a common occurrence for the Twins this season, but then again, Angel Stadium hasn’t necessarily been a place of refuge for the struggling Halos. Tucker Davidson gets the nod to start at pitcher for the Angels against Twins starting righty Chris Archer.

Chris Archer (4.02 ERA) could definitely use a win on Sunday.

The 33-year-old righty hasn’t sniffed a victory since he helped the Twins hand the Colorado Rockies a loss all the back in late June. Summer isn’t quite gone just yet, but it’s been nothing but losses and decisions in well over a month.

This run-in with the Angels might be his best chance of changing that narrative. No team is whiffing at the plate more than the Halos, and they’re slashing .227/.296/.379 on the season. If Archer was looking for a statement game on the road, this could be the one, especially with the Twins still battling for AL Central supremacy with the Cleveland Guardians.

Minnesota’s batters have been more consistent at the plate. It’s the team’s only saving grace with the pitching being up and down throughout the season.

A strong showing from Archer would help them get through Sunday with the least amount of headaches.

But the Angels are at home, and Shohei Ohtani could always spoil those plans.
