Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-3-2022

The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox likely penciled in this series a month ago as a possible showdown for the AL Central Division crown. Instead, the three-game series starting Monday night is an afterthought as both teams set for an offseason with many questions yet to be answered. On the mound on Monday night will be righty Baily Ober (2-3, 3.18) of the Twins taking on Johnny Cueto (7-10, 3.39) of the White Sox. Game time is set for 8:10pm EST.

The Minnesota Twins offseason will begin in earnest as soon as shortstop Carlos Correa makes his attentions known some time after the World Series comes to a close. It is likely that Correa will test free agents waters yet again and the Twins will be left to consider how to address a glaring hole at shortstop. Correa did not deliver the type of season Minnesota hoped for and it is unlikely that they will pursue him heavily this offseason. On Sunday afternoon in Detroit, the Twins continued their late-season free-fall in a 5-2 loss to the Tigers.

A big part of the Twins season revolved around injuries to several key pieces. One of those pieces was starter Bailey Ober. The right-hander recently returned and has pitched progressively better in each of his three starts since returning from IL this month. In his last start, he went 7.1 innings and allowed just two hits without a run to these same White Sox. He was given an extra days' rest by the Twins after that start so he should be strong for his final start of 2022.
