Since the Twins were forced to make a change with their pitching coach, the pitching has fallen off. The Twins are averaging 4.48 runs per game which is 13th in the league. Jorge Polanco is having a big season hitting 14 home runs and driving in 48 RBIs.
On the other side of this matchup is the Tigers who sit with a 38-56 record overall and in their first game from the All-Star Break they split a doubleheader against the Oakland Athletics. The offense has been an issue for this team most of the season and on the second night of the doubleheader, they failed to score. The Tigers are averaging 3.14 runs per game which is 30th in the league.
