Minnesota had their struggles on the road as they fell outright as a favorite to the Spurs Sunday night. The Timberwolves entered Monday 4-3 and tied for third in the Northwest Division, 1.5 games behind the Trail Blazers for the top spot. Against San Antonio, Minnesota trailed by three after the opening quarter, by 10 at the half and by 15 after three quarters. The Timberwolves opened the fourth quarter with a 14-2 run to climb within 87-84 with 8:54 to play but drew no closer. Minnesota shot 40.4% from the field, including a miserable four of 29 showing from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 52-45. Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves with 26 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

For the year, Minnesota is 15th in the league in scoring offense with 115.1 points per game. The Timberwolves stand 3rd in rebounding by pulling down 49 boards a contest while they a re 10th in assists by handing out 25.4 dimes a contest.
