Minnesota Timberwolves (13-14) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (16-13)

The Minnesota Timberwolves continue their five-game road trip Wednesday, December 14, when they face off against the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference showdown at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, with the tip-off at 10:00 PM ET.

Minnesota and LA lock horns for the first time this season. The Timberwolves miss Karl-Anthony Towns (calf) and Taurean Prince (shoulder), while Jordan McLaughlin (calf) is questionable to play. On the other side, the Clippers listed Norman Powell (groin) as questionable.

The Minnesota Timberwolves (13-14; 10-17 ATS) are coming off a two-game set at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. They’ve suffered a couple of losses to the Portland Trail Blazers, 124-118 and 133-112, failing to cover the spread on both occasions. Last Monday, the Timberwolves got trounced by the Blazers, who shot 53.9% from the field and 45.7% from beyond the arc (21-for-46). Minnesota made 49.5% of its field goals and 37.0% of its 3-pointers (10-for-27) while missing nine of its 19 free-throw attempts and allowing 24 fast-break points.

D'Angelo Russell led the way for Minnesota last Monday, notching 23 points and eight assists. Rudy Gobert posted a 16-point, 20-rebound double-double, while Anthony Edwards had 17 points on a poor 6-for-16 shooting from the field.

&#x2 01C;When you miss that many free throws and lay-ups, it really comes down to were we really ready to play?” Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said. “And all of the 3s, we need to get those under control.”

The Timberwolves tally 112.2 points per 100 possessions (tied-17th in the NBA) and surrender 113.6 points in a return (21st). Their defense ranks 29th in the league in triples allowed per 100 possessions (13.8) and 28th in 3-point percentage (37.8%). Furthermore, Minnesota surrenders 11.8 offensive rebounds (26th) and 26.6 assists per game (28th).
