Minnesota has had a very disappointing first half of the season, yet they are tied for the 8th spot in the Western Conference with Utah and just one behind Golden State for 7th place. They have been playing without Karl-Anthony Towns (calf) since late November and he's not expected to return until next week. But even with KAT, there's no excuse to lose to lowly Charlotte at home, 121-113 on Feb. 24 in their first game back from the All-Star break. Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 29 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, but shot just 11-of-26. Shooting (49%) wasn't a major problem for the T-Wolves, but they turned the ball over 15 times and shot just 10-of-16 from the line. LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward also combined for 59 points and 23 rebounds with 13 assists to lead the Hornets.

Minnesota lost their last game before their break to Washington at home. They haven't won two or more games since late January, when they went on a three-game losing streak. Edwards leads the T-Wolves with 25 points per game on 46.3% shooting (36.5% 3pt). Rudy Gobert adds 13.4 points and 11.6 rebounds with 1.3 blocks. But with KAT gone, Minnesota lacks a strong second option.
Minnesota averages 115.7 points per game (10th) on 49.2% shooting (4th) and three-point shooting (35.6%). They do struggle on the boards despite having Gobert (-3.1). On defense, they allow 115.9 points per game (19th) on 47% shooting (11th) and 36.8% (22n) from three-point range.
