A lot was expected of the Minnesota Timberwolves after their strong season last year and the addition of Rudy Gobert in the offseason. But so far, the Timberwolves have been disappointing with a record of 20-21. They are tied for 8th in the Western Conference, 7.5 games behind the Denver Nuggets. But about a week ago they were a lot worse off, sitting outside the top 10 in the conference.

They are moving up in the standings on the strength of a four game winning streak. they are undefeated in 2023 thus far. In fact, their last loss, on the last day of 2022, was to these same Pistons. The Timberwolves just might be turning the corner — and in the very bunched up Western Conference, a few wins in a row can bump you way up in the standings. The Timberwolves are coming off a 104-96 win over Houston on Sunday. D'Angelo Russell led the way with 22 points while Anthony Edwards had 21 points. Edwards leads the team w2ith 23.7 points per game.  Karl Anthony Towns remains on the shelf with a calf injury.
