Minnesota at Illinois – 10/15/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Minnesota Golden Gophers and Illinois Fighting Illini face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Memorial Stadium. Last year it was Illinois that secured the 14-6 victory.

Minnesota comes into this game with a 4-1 record overall but they are coming off a loss in their last game. In the last game against Purdue, Minnesota only scored 10 points, and that led to the 10-point defeat. One issue for the Gophers in the last game is they were without Mohamed Ibrahim who was dealing with an injury. The week off was good for him, and he’s expected to play in this game. Minnesota on the season is averaging 38.6 points while their defense is giving up 8.80 points per game.

On the other side of this matchup is Illinois who sit with a 5-1 record overall and they were able to knock off Iowa in the last game. It wasn’t the prettiest game, but the defense gave up only six points and that led to the three-point victory. Chase Brown had a big game finishing with 31 carries for 146 yards. Tommy Devito is dealing with an ankle injury and it’s unclear if he’s going to be able to go in this game. If he can't go it will be Tommy Devito who threw for 42 yards in the last game. Illinois on the season is averaging 26 points while their defense is giving up only eight points per game.
