Milwaukee Brewers vs. Toronto Blue Jays Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-31-2023

Last year they played in Wisconsin, with the Milwaukee Brewers (28-25) taking two of three from the Toronto Blue Jays (28-26). This year's series is north of the border and began on Monday night. This Tuesday game will mark round two, as both dugouts look to end a miserable May on a high note. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. EDT from the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Weather won't be a factor, so both sides only need to worry about playing ball.

Milwaukee has the lead in the NL Central still, but it could be much bigger. The Brewers can't sustain momentum so every team in the division is within 5.5 games of them still. They began this series 24th in winning percentage this month, due to an offense that is 27th in runs per game this May. Milwaukee's lineup is 25th in batting average, 25th in OBP, 27th in slugging percentage, and 28th in strikeout percentage. If it weren't for home runs and stolen bases, this offense would be considered a disaster.

Their pitching has been fine, with a collective ERA that's 14th in the majors. Milwaukee's middle relief isn't spectacular, but a bullpen led by Devin Williams in the back end is lights out. It's on the starting rotation to give them the ball in a competitive game, which Julio Teheran accomplished in his first start with the team. He pitched 5.0 innings in his first start since 2021, allowing four hits and walking one batter. One run crossed the plate, enough for him to earn a loss because the offense got blanked. Regardless, the Brewers won't complain if that's his average start.
