The Milwaukee Brewers (28-25, 1st NL Central) play the opening game of a three-game interleague series north of the border on Tuesday when visiting the Toronto Blue Jays (28-26, 5th AL East). Milwaukee defeated the San Francisco Giants 7-5 on Sunday avoiding a four-game sweep after losing to the Giants in each of the first three games of that series. Toronto defeated Minnesota 3-0 on Sunday and won two out of three over the American League Central leading Twins. Milwaukee will play without eight pitchers as well as position players Willy Adames, Owen Miller, Garrett Mitchell, Luis Urias and Jesse Winker. Toronto will play without four pitchers as well as position players Santiago Espinal and Danny Jansen.

Milwaukee is coming off a four-game series against San Francisco in which the Brewers scored nine runs, but seven of the nine runs were scored in one game. Milwaukee is 23rd  in team batting average of .232, 26th in both on base percentage at .307 and slugging percentage at .383. Milwaukee has scored 214 runs which is 24th. Rowdy Tellez is the team leader in home runs with 12, while Willy Adames is second with nine but is out injured. The leader in RBI is Brian Anderson with 30, while the injured Adames is second with 27 and Tellez is third with 26. Milwaukee has hit 66 doubles, three triples and 63 home runs in 53 games.

 

Milwaukee has the 14th best team ERA in baseball at 4.14 and is 13th in WHIP at 1.29. Milwaukee's starting rotation has 21 Quality Starts which is 11th in ba seball and the pitching staff is holding opposing hitters to an average .245 which is 13th. Corbin Burnes is the leader in strikeouts for Milwaukee with 59, while Freddy Peralta is the leader in victories with five. Milwaukee will hand the ball to Adrian Houser on Tuesday.
