Milwaukee Brewers vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-16-2022

The Milwaukee Brewers (50-41, 38-53 RL, 44-41-6 O/U) do battle with the San Francisco Giants (46-43, 44-45 RL, 44-41-4 O/U) in the third of a four-game NL series on Saturday evening. The Brewers will have Eric Lauer on the mound. The Giants reply with veteran Alex Cobb. The season series is 1-1.

Eric Lauer will make his 17th start of the season. Lauer was solid in his latest effort, holding the Pirates to only two runs (one earned) in five innings, resulting in a no-decision in a game the Brewers lost. The veteran left-hander has conceded a total of only three runs in his two outings this month and has recorded a 3.83 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP accompanied by a 6-3 record in 89.1 innings pitched on the season. Lauer is 3-0 with a 3.61 ERA in 42.1 career innings against the Giants.

The Brew Crew continues to stand atop the NL Central but the Cardinals are only two games behind. Milwaukee has been mediocre recently. They earned one win in two meetings in Minnesota this week and stand at 4-6 in their last ten games overall.

Jace Peterson has been a tough out lately, posting a .310 average and an .873 OPS on the mon th. The 32-year-old third baseman is having a respectable season, collecting eight homers with 30 RBIs and a .765 OPS. He went 0 for 2 in Friday’s victory. Tyrone Taylor is out of action.

The Brewers are scoring an average of 4.51 runs per game, ranking them 13th overall. The pitching staff has logged a 3.75 team ERA, good for ninth in the big leagues.
