Milwaukee Brewers vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-18-2023

The Milwaukee Brewers (52-42, 44-50 RL, 41-49-4 O/U) meet with the Philadelphia Phillies (51-42, 39-54 RL, 38-46-9 O/U) in the second of a three-game series on Tuesday evening. The Brewers will give the nod to Julio Teheran. The Phillies will reply with Aaron Nola. The Phillies won last year’s season series 4-2.

The Brewers will have Julio Teheran on the hill. Teheran was obliterated in his previous start, conceding six runs in six innings against the Cubs, and was able to escape with a no-decision in a game the Brewers rallied to win. The veteran right-hander was dominant in his first month of action but has hit a bump since, conceding 13 runs in his last two outings, and has registered a 3.64 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP to go with a 2-3 record in 47 innings. Teheran has decent numbers against the Phillies, reporting a 3.97 ERA and a 9-9 record in 152 innings.

Milwaukee resumes a six-game road trek. The squad is thriving, earning two consecutive series victories. They won two of three meetings with Cincinnati before the break and again battled the Reds on the weekend and issued a three-game road sweep to climb into first place in the NL Central. The Brewer's pitching has been outstanding, recording three shut outs in their last four games. They are 7-3 in their last ten clashes.

Christian Yelich continues to deliver at the plate, knocking in 12 runs along with a sparkling 1.1 OPS on the month. The 31-year-old slugger now has 13 homers with 49 RBIs and an .850 OPS. Yelich only recorded two RBIs and a .624 OPS against the Phillies last season. Brian Anderson has been placed on the IL.

The Brewers are scoring an average of 4.17 runs on the season, marking them 25th. The pitching continues to excel and has accrued a 4.01 team ERA, positioning them 13th.
