Arizona drubbed the Dodgers 11-6 at home in the finale of a four-game series Sunday afternoon to take three of four between the NL West rivals. Milwaukee won the rubber game of their three-game set with the Cardinals as they got another well-pitched game from their staff. The Brewers entered Monday 7-2 overall and held a one-game lead over the Pirates for the top spot in the NL Central race. In Sunday’s game, Milwaukee got three hits each from Christian Yelich (two runs, RBI) and Willy Adames (two runs, three RBI) while William Contreras had a pair to pace an 11-hit attack. Yelich (his first) and Adames (his second) each homered in the victory for the Brewers. Freddy Peralta (2-0) earned the win as he threw six innings, allowing one run on four hits with three walks and seven strikeouts before turning things over to the bullpen.

Corbin Burnes is on the mound for his third start of the season looking to shrug off a slow start for the Brewers here. He comes in 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA, a 1.714 WHIP, five walks and six strikeouts over 9.1 in nings of work on the year. Burnes didn’t factor in the decision in his last start, which came at home against the Mets Wednesday. He threw 4.1 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts in a game the Brewers went on to win 7-6 in walk-off fashion. Burnes makes his fourth career start against the Diamondbacks in this contest. He is 1-0 with a 2.87 ERA, a 0.894 WHIP, three walks and 23 strikeouts over 15.2 innings of work against them. Burnes didn’t factor in the decision in his lone career start at Chase Field, which came on September 3, 2022. He threw 5.2 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts in a game the Brewers eventually won 8-6 in 10 innings.
