The Michigan Wolverines are left looking for their next head coach following their 2024 College Football Championship win, as we look at the best college football odds for who'll replace Jim Harbaugh.
Jim Harbaugh helped guide the Michigan Wolverines through a scandal-filled (at least partially of his own doing) 2023-24 season to capture the school's first college football championship since 1997.
Harbaugh had been rumored to be leaving the NCAA ranks for an NFL return seemingly since before that victory, and that move was made official on Wednesday when he signed a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers.
That leaves Michigan offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Sherrone Moore as the betting favorite by the odds to replace Harbaugh as Michigan's next head coach.

Favorite to be Michigan's next head coach
Moore, 37, was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Michigan for the 2023 season after joining the Wolverines for the 2018 season as the tight ends coach.
He served as the program's acting head coach during parts of two suspensions imposed upon Harbaugh this past season, though Harbaugh was given official credit for all but one of those four wins. Moore's most impressive (unofficial) victory on the sidelines was a 30-24 triumph over Ohio State in the final week of the regular season.
The Wolverines averaged 35.9 points per game and 382.7 yards per game under Moore's tutelage this season.
With Harbaugh gone, QB J.J. McCarthy and running back Blake Corum (among others) having declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. Retaining Moore as the head coach seems like the smart move for the Wolverines in hope of preserving at least some degree of continuity from a championship season.
That said, this could represent the opportunity for Michigan to commit to another full rebuild and bring in a fresh face to do so. The -700 odds (87.50% implied probability) are a steep price to pay with the possibility of Michigan going off the board with its next head coaching hire.
It's a dangerous bet at this point if hoping for any real profit, so it's likely best to lay off until we hear more on potential candidates.
