Michigan State vs. Washington Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-17-2022

No. 11 Michigan State (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) travels to Seattle to take on Washington (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) on Saturday night from Husky Stadium at 7:30pmET.

MSU has not been tested thus far as they have defeated Western Michigan (35-13) and Akron (52-0), while Washington took care of Kent State (45-20) and Portland State (52-6).

Last year, Michigan State finished 11-2 and went 7-2 in the Big 10 after a slow start during the 2020 Covid season. The Spartans have high expectations with junior quarter Payton Thorne returning from a season where he threw for 3,233 yards with 27 TDs and 10 INTs. He did struggle in the opening game, completed just 12-of-24 for 233 yards and four TDs with a pick. In the win over Akron last week, Thorne completed 18 of 28 for 212 yards with two picks and no TDs.

“Those games are over,” he said to mlive.com after the game. “Obviously you want to learn from them like everybody says and I’ve been working on the stuff that I’ve been working on the whole offseason. Nothing’s changed for me.”

The Spartans accumulated 32 first downs and 262 rushing yards against Akron, holding the Zips to just 22 rushing yards. Jalen Berger ran for 107 yards and three scores, while Jarek Broussard added 81 yards and two TDs. MSU also produced six sacks led by UNLV transfer LB Jacoby Windmon with 1.5.

Berger leads the Spartans with 227 yards rushing and four TDs, while Windmon has a ridiculous 5.5 sacks in two games.
