The Michigan State Spartans will head down to Champaign and face the Illinois Fighting Illini from Assembly Hall on FS1. Michigan State holds a narrow series lead of 64-62, but Illinois did win both meetings last season.
Michigan State improved to 12-4 after beating Wisconsin in Madison. The Spartans and the Badgers traded leads for almost 40 minutes, before MSU would pull away from the host and escape with the four-point victory. is scoring 70.3 points per game, while allowing 64.9 ppg and shooting 44.6% from the floor.
Tom Izzo’s bunch is starting to hit their stride, and after seven straight wins, they may just put a real scare on Illinois here. Joey Hauser leads the charge for Sparty. The 6’9 forward double-doubled against Penn State and Nebraska, and he scored a team-high 20 points in the win over Wisconsin. Hauser leads MSU in scoring (13.8) and rebounding (7.8). Tyson Walker (13.7 ppg) and A.J. Hoggard (12.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, and 6.5 apg) start in the backcourt, with the latter being one of the best assists men in the country.
