The Miami of Ohio Redhawks and Georgia Bulldogs face off on Monday in a college basketball showdown at Stegeman Coliseum. This is the first meeting between the two teams in recent years.
Georgia comes into this game with a 1-1 record, but they were defeated in the last game. In Game 1 the Bulldogs beat Western Carolina 68-55, but in the last game against Wake Forest, they were defeated 81-71. At the end of the first half, Georgia was down 41-22. The Bulldogs did score 49 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as they were knocked off. Terry Roberts and Mardez McBride both finished with 13 points against the Demon Deacons. There were five different players that finished with at least 10 points.
On the other side of this matchup is the Miami Redhawks who opened up their season a loss, but bounced back in the last game. In Game 1 against Evansville, Miami of Ohio was defeated 78-74. In the last game against Goshen they bounced back in a big way putting up 87 points, and won in a blowout. Julian Lewis was the top scorer in the last game finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Mekhi Lairy also had a big game finishing with 13 points and three rebounds. In this game for the Redhawks want to pull the upset, the defense is going to need to be good.
