Miami/Toledo Rematch for MAC Title

The MAC is a very weak conference overall, but it would be interesting to know if Toledo would have been under consideration for the New Year’s Six Group of Five bowl berth if not for a season-opening loss to Illinois. The Rockets lost on a last-second field goal in a game where they were objectively the better team for most of it. They’ve run the table ever since.

Each time that Miami of Ohio has won the MAC in the last 20 seasons, it has been by a 26-21 score. The first came in 2010 with an upset over Jerry Kill’s Northern Illinois squad and then in 2019 when Brett Gabbert was a freshman. Gabbert is still on the team, but he suffered a season-ending leg injury against Toledo back on October 21, so the RedHawks are out for revenge from that 21-17 loss and out to win one for their fallen leader.
