Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-10-2022

The Miami Marlins (49-59, 47-60 RL, 48-56-3 O/U) take on the Philadelphia Phillies (60-48, 58-50 RL, 55-47-6 O/U) as the NL East foes resume a three-game series on Wednesday night. The Marlins send their ace, Sandy Alcantara to the hill fresh off a complete game. The Phillies will counter with Noah Syndergaard. The Phillies lead the season series 6-4.

The Marlins will have Sandy Alcantara on the bump for the 23rd time of the season. Alcantara was brilliant once again in his previous start, tossing a complete game shutout against the Reds, and was awarded the win to lift his record to 10-4. The Marlins’ ace is definitely a Cy Young candidate, sporting a dazzling 1.88 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP in 158.1 innings pitched. Alcantara has limited the Phillies to only six runs in 22 innings pitched this year, and stands at 6-5 with a stellar 2.95 ERA in 13 career meetings.

The Fish have been struggling to win games. They have dropped three consecutive series after losing two of three to the Cubs last weekend. The offense has been quiet as they continue to play without Jazz Chisholm Jr. The pitching continues to excel.

The Marlins recently welcomed Garrett Cooper back into the lineup. The 31-year-old second baseman has been quiet, amassing a poor .111 average in limited play this month but is a good player and has 42 RBIs accompanied by a stellar .763 OPS. Cooper is 5 for 29 with two RBIs against the Phillies this season.

The Marlins are scoring an average of 3.84 runs per game, ranking them 26th overall. The pitching staff has logged a 3.81 team ERA, placing them 10th in the Major Leagues.
