The Miami Marlins (63-90, 70-82 RL, 66-79-7 O/U) and the New York Mets (97-57, 32-69 RL, 78-66-8 O/U) resume a three-game series on Wednesday evening. The Marlins give the starting nod to Jesus Luzardo. The Mets reply with Taijuan Walker, seeking his third win of September. The Mets lead the season series 12-5.

The Marlins will have Jesus Luzardo on the hill in this one. Luzardo was outstanding in his latest effort, holding the Cubs to only one run in 6.2 inning pitched, but received no help and finished with the no-decision. The young southpaw is pitching well, conceding two or fewer runs in three out of his last four performances, and features a 3.57 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP accompanied by a 3-7 record in 88.1 innings pitched. Luzardo allowed five runs in 3.1 innings in his lone meeting against the Mets this season and has squandered 10 runs in 14 career innings against the rivals.

The fish earned a rare series win last weekend against the Nationals, marking their first series triumph of the month. They are 2-8 in their last ten road bouts. It’s been a poor season due to the offense however injuries have played a factor. Avisail Garcia is one of many hitters out of action.

Brian Anderson is one of the proven veterans on this young team but has not been able to deliver at the plate. The 29-year-old third baseman has eight RBIs and an abysmal .574 OPS this month. Anderson has 27 RBIs and a .673 OPS on the season. He has four RBIs against the Mets.

The Marlins continue to struggle at the plate and are averaging 3.58 runs, ranking them 28th overall. The pitching staff has posted a 3.92 team ERA, placing them 15th.
