The Miami Marlins and the Milwaukee Brewers wrap up their four-game series in Milwaukee on Thursday afternoon. This series has serious playoff implications as the Marlins try to stay in contention for a wildcard spot in the National League while the Brewers are hoping to wrap up the NL Central Division crown. The Miami Marlins are still very much in the hunt for one of the final two wildcard spots in the National League with 16 games to go in the season. The Marlins have had a brutal schedule over the past two weeks with games against the NL West-leading Dodgers, the NL wildcard-leading Phillies, and now this four-game series with the NL Central-leading Brewers. Heading into Wednesday night's game with the Brewers, the Marlins are 4-4 in that stretch. On Wednesday night, starter Braxton Garrett picked up his ninth win while throwing six shutout innings as part of the Marlins 2-0 victory. Miami remains a 1/2 game out of the final wildcard spot in the National League.
The Marlins will turn to righty Eury Perez in the series finale on Thursday afternoon. Perez is 5-4 on the season in 17 starts including six quality starts.
