The Marlins won the series opener 7-4 Thursday as 3B Jake Burger broke a 4-4 tie in the 8th inning with a solo home run. LF Bryan De La Cruz also had a bases clearing double and scored on 1B Josh Bell‘s double. LHP Tanner Scott pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn his 11th save.

The 7-4 loss to the Miami Marlins was the least of Philadelphia’s concerns because 1B Bryce Harper limped off the field after making the final out and LF Kyle Schwarber left the game earlier in the 9th inning with left groin tightness.
