Miami will try to extend its three-game winning streak when it travels to Washington on Friday night. The Heat are coming off one of their best performances of the season, cruising to a 129-101 win at Philadelphia on Thursday night. Washington has been eliminated from playoff contention and is riding a four-game losing streak.
Miami has been an inconsistent team throughout the season, but the Heat have been trending in the right direction of late. They won seven out of 10 games from the beginning of March to March 22, and they are riding a three-game winning streak coming into this matchup. Miami’s first two wins came against Dallas and Detroit before it beat Philadelphia in a blowout on Thursday night. The Heat took a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back, winning by 28 points in a game that they nearly led wire-to-wire. Small forward Jimmy Butler scored 24 points and dished out six assists, shooting 9 of 12 from the floor.

Meanwhile, point guard Tyler Herro had 24 points, five assists and four rebounds, knocking down 5 of 8 from 3-point range. The Heat have slim hopes of avoiding the Eastern Conference play-in tournament, as they need to win their final two games and have Brooklyn lose both of its games this weekend. They took the Southeast Division title with Thursday’s win, but that no longer determines the top seeds in the playoffs. Kyle Lowry was questionable with knee soreness, but he scored 11 points in 22 minutes. He has not played more than 30 minutes in a game since scoring 36 against Orlando on March 11. Miami ranks last in the NBA in scoring (109.1) and is facing a Washington defense that is No. 17 in points allowed per game (114.5).
