Miami Heat (20-19) vs. Phoenix Suns (20-19)

The 2022-23 NBA betting action goes on Friday, January 6, with the Miami Heat facing off against the Phoenix Suns in the cross-conference showdown at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s a pick ‘em contest with a total of 215.5 points, and the tip-off is set for 10:00 PM ET.

Miami heads to Arizona without Duncan Robinson (finger), Nikola Jovic (back), and Omer Yurtseven (ankle). On the other side, Phoenix misses Devin Booker (groin) and Cameron Johnson (knee), while Cameron Payne (foot) is doubtful to play.

The Miami Heat (20-19; 14-23-2 ATS) are coming off Wednesday’s 112-109 defeat at the Los Angeles Lakers. After a couple of wins at the Utah Jazz 126-123 and Los Angeles Clippers 110-100, the Heat returned to losing ways in dramatic fashion. Miami had a six-point lead with eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter but couldn’t hold on down the stretch.

Miami outscored the Lakers 66-60 in the paint and posted 14 offensive rebounds. The Heat also recorded a solid 24/13 assist-to-turnover ratio while making 45.3% of their field goals, but it wasn’t enough. Bam Adebayo led Miami with 30 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks, while Jimmy Butler had 27 points, four assists, and three steals.

“It's been extremely disappointing every time we get a little bit of footing on the season, and then we have a disappointing loss,” Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said. “That's what this was tonight, but you have to credit the Lakers. They played with a great motor, with spirit with their guys out. We've had some wins like that as well, where we've had guys out and you can catch a team.”

Bam Adebayo has hit a 30-point mark in three straight games. He’s averaged 25.6 points and 10.9 rebounds over his last eight appearances. The Heat have gone 4-2 SU and ATS in their last six contests and occupy the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. Miami ranks 25th in the league in adjusted offensive efficiency (111.3 points per 100 possessions) and seventh in adjusted defensive efficiency (111.7).
