Miami sputtered out of the gate, losing five of their first seven games, before rallying with wins over Golden State and Sacramento at home on back-to-back nights. The Heat entered Thursday 4-5 on the year and stood third in the Southeast Division, 1.5 games behind the Hawks for the top spot. Against Sacramento, Miami was in a tight game most of the way and needed to rally in the fourth quarter to get the win. The Heat were up one after the opening quarter, by two at the half and by one after three quarters. Miami found themselves down by seven multiple times in the fourth quarter, the last time at 92-85 with 7:27 to play, before rallying. With the game tied in the dying seconds, Tyler Herro hit the game-winning three-pointer with 1.8 seconds to play to give the Heat a victory. Miami shot 49.4% from the field, including 11 of 34 from three-point range, and controlled the glass by a 46-39 margin. Herro led the Heat with 26 points and 12 rebo unds in the victory.

The Heat enters this one 26th in the league in scoring offense with 109.1 points per game this season.
