When the Miami Hurricanes' offense is right, as it was on Friday night against top-seeded Houston, they are a very difficult team to beat. Miami, led by Nijel Pack's season-high 26 points, rolled to an 89-75 win to reach the Midwest Region Final. Miami nearly led from wire-to-wire and never trailed in the second half in just the program's second-ever win over a #1 ranked team. For the game, the Hurricanes shot 57% from the floor and 44% from beyond the arc. Pack was an impressive 7-of-10 from long-range in the game. For the tournament, Pack is now averaging 20 points per game in the three wins. Isaiah Wong is second on the team, averaging 17.3 points per game. Norchard Omier has been immense on the boards, averaging 14.6 rebounds per game through three games.

“We emphasized moving the ball and finding the open man, and the guys did such a fantastic job from start to finish,” Miami head coach Jim Larrañaga said. “We only ended up with six turnovers. So that’s the name of the game. And we tied them in rebounding. A great performance by our guys.”

Miami is now 28-7 on the season as they head into the regional final against Texas. The Hurricanes are averaging 79 points per game thus far in the tournament. The team is shooting 43.5% from the floor and 38.8% from 3pt range. On the defensive end, the Hurricanes are allowing 66.6 points per game in the tournament and the opposition is shooting just 39.6% from the floor overall. The Hurricanes are also only allowing teams to shoot 30% from 3pt range in the three wins. On the glass, Miami holds a +23 rebounding edge in the tournament. The Hurricanes also have a +5 turnover margin through three games.
