It has been a disaster from the start of this season for the Memphis Grizzlies. Star point guard Ja' Morant sat out the first third of the season due to a suspension for off-the-court behavior last year. This led to a poor start of the season but things started to look up when Morant returned. The excitement was short-lived, however, as Morant suffered a season-ending shoulder injury during a workout. The Grizzlies are now just 18-32 and have a roster plagued with injuries. On Sunday, the tough season continued with a 40-point loss to the Celtics in Boston, 131-91. The short-handed Grizzlies were led by Scotty Pippen Jr.'s 19 points while GG Jackson chipped in with 18 points and David Roddy added 14 points.
“These guys have been ready for this opportunity,” Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins said about the short bench. ”They stepped out and I thought they played great tonight. … This was fun watching them play against the best team in the NBA.”
