Memphis Grizzlies vs. New Orleans Pelicans Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-5-2023

The Memphis Grizzlies (50-29) will host the New Orleans Pelicans (40-39) on Wednesday in a Western Conference meeting, that will be a back to back for each team. New Orleans saw its two game winning streak snapped with a 121-103 loss to the Kings on Tuesday, and Memphis is coming off a 119-109 win against Portland. The Grizzlies are 2-1 against the Pelicans this season against the spread and straight up.

After losing last night the Pelicans are 8th in the Western Conference. With the Lakers and Clippers also playing tight, a win by New Orleans would tie them for 7th record-wise. The Pelicans should be cheering for the Lakers tonight. New Orleans is 3-0 against the Clippers but only 1-3 against the Lakers this season, and that would decide a potential tiebreaker. The Pelicans will end their season with a home game against the Knicks Friday, and a road game in Minnesota on Sunday.

New Orleans has won seven of its last nine games, with Brandon Ingram leading the scoring charge in the previous eight contests and Jonas Valanciunas leading the rebound effort in 10 straight games. Ingram is averaging 24.5 ppg in 42 contest this season and Valanciunas is putting up 14.4 ppg and grabbing 10.1 rebounds in 76 games. Zion Williamson is averaging a team high 26 ppg and has been cleared for on-court activities, but from reporters, I would be surprised if he plays tonight. The Pelicans are 4-7 straight up when playing on back-to-back days this season, and dropped their previous back to back 120-109 at Golden State on March 28.
