The Oklahoma City Thunder rallied late on the road in Game 4 to even the series behind a huge performance from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Now with the series going back to their home floor, they will look to ensure that their next trip to visit the Dallas Mavericks is not one that they need to win in order to save their playoff lives. You can check out our NBA picks on the side and total for Mavericks vs Thunder as well as Cavaliers vs Celtics, but for now let's jump into my Game 5 Mavericks vs Thunder Same Game Parlay picks.
Dallas Mavericks +4 over Oklahoma City Thunder (-108)
The Dallas Mavericks had a real chance of taking a 3-1 series lead but Luka Doncic missed key free throws late in Game 4. The Mavericks still looked competitive, never falling behind by more than 5 points during the entire contest. Since a blowout loss in Game 1, the have certainly looked the better of the 2 sides in the other games. What has certainly helped is the fact that they are making 39% of their 3-point attempts to just 31% for the Thunder. That level of disparity should help ensure they stay competitive tonight too. With the team being a threat from the outside, it helps take Chet Holmgren away from the paint, where he can be a disruptive force. I think we could be in for another close game tonight, so the points on the Mavericks seems a good value pick.
P.J. Washington over 15.5 points (-122)
The Thunder seem to be determined to have someone other than Kyrie Irving or Luka Doncic to be the man to beat them. The player that has stepped up into that role is P.J. Washington. The forward has 3 straight games of dropping 29, 27 and 21 points respectively. He has not attempted fewer than 18 shots in any of those contests. Considering he is making 49.3% of his field goal attempts in the series, a similar volume should help ensure he hits the over. He has been lights out from the perimeter too, making 51.4% of his 3-pointers. As long as the Thunder keep sending help towards Irving and Doncic, Washington should have the opportunity to be aggressive. He will certainly not be lacking confidence at this stage either.
Kyrie Irving over 6.5 assists (+124)
Irving has had very disappointing scoring numbers this series, in part because of the defensive schemes the Thunder have been deploying. It has, however, allowed him to express himself as a playmaker. The guard is averaging 7.5 assists in the series and has hit this over in 3 straight games. Irving is adept at getting to the rim. With Holmgren being a keen shot blocker, it creates opportunities for the guard to either drop the ball down for someone in the dunkers slot or kick it out to the perimeter. As mentioned earlier, the Mavericks have been efficient in converting those opportunities from the outside. The Thunder picked up a win in Game 4 and held Irving to 9 points in the process. I do not expect them to adjust their defensive schemes here, which should help force Irving to be a distributor once more.
