Mavericks vs. Celtics Player Props & Odds: Game 1 Expert Picks for Thursdayiv class=”bodyContent col-lg-9 mb-3″>

The NBA Finals are finally here as the Dallas Mavericks head to TD Garden to play the Boston Celtics, and we're offering our top Mavericks vs. Celtics player props based on the best NBA odds for Game 1 on Thursday.

The entire NBA season comes down to one last seven-game series to crown the league's top team. The Boston Celtics, who remain the NBA championship odds favorites, host the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals at TD Garden on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET (ABC).

The top team all season, the Celtics are 6.5-point home favorites in the series opener, but will have to try and contain Luka Doncic, who remains a serious NBA Finals MVP odds contender. However, we highlighted in our NBA Finals odds & betting preview just how scary Boston is with its loaded lineup led by Jayson Tatum.

Here are our best Mavericks vs. Celtics player props and NBA picks (odds via our best NBA betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Mavericks vs. Celtics prop bet predictions for Thursday

It feels like regardless of how Game 1 of the NBA Finals goes for Tatum, there will be a segment on First Take about how it's really Jaylen Brown's team or how Tatum just doesn& #39;t have the killer instinct of past greats like M.J. or Kobe.

Without Tatum, Boston wouldn't be in the Finals, nor would it be 12-2 in the playoffs. What's made the 26-year-old particularly potent this postseason is his willingness to let others shine while focusing on dominating the glass. Not only is he Boston's leading scorer, but he's first in rebounds (10.4) and assists per game (5.9).

Through 14 playoff games this year, he's finished with 16 combined rebounds and assists 10 times – Dallas allowed opposing fours to average 15.36 this season. These odds imply a 50.98% win probability, according to our odds converter, with a $10 bet paying a $9.62 profit.

“You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him.”

Few players in the NBA can have Dan Patrick's old adage applied to them as perfectly as Doncic. Even when he was struggling with a knee injury earlier in the playoffs, he was still putting up otherworldly numbers.

While Boston deploys a defense that ranked third in the NBA this season (111.6), Joe Mazzulla is a smart enough coach to understand Doncic is going to get his numbers. Between his revitalized 3-point shooting, silky smooth mid-range game, and unstoppable lob passes, I expect a big Game 1 from the Mavs star.

Against the top-ranked Minnesota Timberwolves, he averaged a combined 40.6 points and assists while topping 39.5 in three of five games. These odds imply a 52.83% probability he hits the Over with a winning $10 bet paying out $18.93.

Few cities hate players with the same vigor as Boston, and few players in recent memory have spurned a franchise like Kyrie Irving. Not only did he leave after saying he'd stay while setting up a “super team” in Brooklyn, but he's since stomped on Lucky the Leprechaun and flipped off the Boston crowd.

Having no dog in this fight, I love the extra oomph Kyrie vs. Boston brings to the NBA Finals. But for as good as Irving was in the WCF, I expect him to struggle against the Celtics. Boston held shooting guards to 31.52 PRA during the season and has Derrick White, arguably the best defending guard in the NBA.

I expect Irving to look more like he did in the second round against the Oklahoma City Thunder when he averaged just 15.7 points. These odds imply a 51.92% win probability and pay $19.26 on a $10 bet.
