Masters Par 3 Contest 2023 Participants, Tee Times and How to Watch on TV (Format for This Year's Tournament)

It's Masters week, and that means golf fans are buzzing with excitement as the sport's best descend on Augusta National. Before teeing off on Thursday, though, some of this year's participants will take part in beloved Par 3 Contest that precedes the major.

Here's everything you need to know about this year's Masters Par 3 Contest.

What is the Masters Par 3 Contest?

The Masters Par 3 Contest is an annual event that takes place the day before the tournament. It features golfers making their way through a nine-hole, par-27 course. Those participating often have family members, from wives to children, caddying for them. These special guests even take shots on the pro's behalf sometimes.

This fun warmup event was founded in 1960. Despite its long history, the winner of the Par 3 Contest has famously never gone on to win the green jacket in that same year.

Masters Par 3 Contest History, Records and Past Winners

The Masters Par 3 Contest has hosted plenty of talented golfers since its inception in 1960. However , only seven players have ever won multiple times. The Par 3 Contest course record was set by Jimmy Walker in 2016. He posted a 19 (-8), including a hole-in-one.
