UMass Minutemen (1-3) vs. Eastern Michigan Eagles (2-2)

The Minutemen meet the Eagles for the second straight season, so we bring you the best UMass vs. Eastern Michigan betting pick and odds for Saturday, October 1, when Week 5 of the 2022 college football season continues with the non-conference showdown from Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Last year, the Eagles outlasted the Minutemen 42-28 as 22-point road favorites. Eastern Michigan is a 19.5-point home fave this time around, while the totals are listed at 53.5 points.

The UMass Minutemen fell to 1-3 straight up and ATS on the season following a 28-0 defeat at the Temple Owls in Week 4. Seven days after beating the Stony Brook Seawolves 20-3 as slim 1-point favorites, the Minutemen couldn’t cover a 10-point spread at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. They forced four turnovers and still failed to put some points on the scoreboard.

“You can't get frustrated when you don't score. You have to keep playing the game,” UMass head coach Don Brown said. “Unfortunately for us, I think there was some frustration. You can't get frustrated when things don't go your way. You just have to stay in the foxhole, keep playing and keep competing. If you do that then things will eventually go your way.” &#13 ;

Junior QB Gino Campiotti went 7-of-14 for a paltry 36 yards and an interception this past Saturday. Campiotti now has 165 passing yards, a TD, and four interceptions in 2022. He’s also rushed 54 times for 242 yards and a touchdown so far this season.

The Minutemen lean on their ground game, averaging 185.8 rushing yards per game. Senior RB Ellis Merriweather leads the way with 219 yards on 56 carries, while sophomore RB Tim Baldwin Jr. has 165 yards on 33 totes. On the other side of the ball, the Minutemen are yielding 32.0 points per game (tied-101st in the country) on 190.5 passing yards (33rd) and 166.0 rushing yards (97th).
