UMass Minutemen (1-7) vs. UConn Huskies (4-5)

Week 10 of the 2022 FBS season goes on Friday, November 4, when a couple of Independents face off against each other at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut, so here’s the best Minutemen vs. Huskies betting pick.

The slumping UMass team opens as a 15.5-point road underdog with a total of 40.0 points. Last year, the Minutemen beat the Huskies 27-13 as 3-point home dogs, and the game went under a 57.0-point line.

The UMass Minutemen (1-7; 3-5 ATS) extended their losing streak to five games with a 23-13 home defeat to the New Mexico State Aggies in Week 9. They were listed as small 1-point underdogs, but the Minutemen put on another lousy offensive display and failed to score in the second half. UMass racked up just 259 total yards, while sophomore signal-caller Brady Olson went 15-of-28 for 97 yards and an interception in his second start of the season.

“Very disappointing. Obviously, we're coming off a bye. We had two weeks to prepare. Had good moments in the football game, but too little too late,” UMass head coach Don Brown said. “First half, I thought guys were really competing hard at high level, and we reflected that, but obviously we were not able to manufacture anything offensively in the second half. We're constantly trying to tweak our roster and find guys that can help our roster. That's not only the quarterback position, it's every position on the team. He clearly had the best two weeks of practice.”

Sophomore RB Kay’Ron Adams posted 72 yards and a TD on six carries in Week 9, while senior RB Ellis Merriweather had 23 totes for 84 yards. Junior QB Gino Campiotti, who hasn’t appeared last week, leads the way for the Minutemen with 93 rushing attempts for 380 yards and a couple of scores in 2022. UMass is dead last in the country in both points for (12.1 per game) and passing yards (78.8). The Minutemen rank 57th in the nation in rushing yards per game (166.3), but they record just 3.6 yards per carry (tied-102nd).

On the other side of the ball, UMass is giving up 30.9 points per contest (103rd) on 205.4 passing yards (37< span style="font-weight: 400">th), 173.6 rushing yards (100th), and 5.9 yards per play (tied-96th).
