Maryland at Penn State – 11/12/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Maryland Terrapins will travel to Happy Valley and take on the Penn State Nittany Lions from Beaver Stadium this Saturday on Fox. Penn State and Maryland have extended history together, as the two schools crossed paths in nearly every season from 1960-1993. Penn State leads a one-sided series 41-3-1, but the Terps did pick up a win in University Park back in 2020.

Maryland is 6-3 after losing to Wisconsin in Madison in Week 10. The Terps welcomed Taulia Tagovailoa back to the lineup, but they ultimately fell victim to traditional Big Ten football. It was rainy and wet, proper ingredients for Wisconsin football, and they dominated Maryland physically, holding them to their lowest offensive output this season. Maryland is averaging 31.4 points per game, while passing for 260.1 yards per game (77th) and rushing for 164.8 rushing yards per game (110th). The Maryland defense is allowing 24.1 points per game.

Taulia Tagovailoa leads the Terps aerial attack, and he’s thrown for 2,078 passing yards with 14 touchdowns to six interceptions through eight starts. Roman Hemby and Antwain Litttleton split the workload for Maryland initially, but Hemby has taken off over the past three weeks. The true freshman rushed for 107 yards in the road win over Indiana, before gashing Northwestern for career-highs of 179 yards and three touchdowns. Hemby now leads the Terps with 747 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, while  Littleton has added 317 yards and six scores. Rakim Jarrett leads UMD with 34 receptions, while tight end Corey Dyches leads the team with 376.receiving yards and three touchdown catches.
