Marquette vs. Xavier Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-11-2023

Well, it has come down like it was supposed to as the No. 1 seeded Marquette Golden Eagles face the No. 2 seeded Xavier Musketeers in the Big East tournament finals Saturday night. These two foes split two games this season and they were decided by a combined 5 points. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. EST at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Xavier Musketeers are the No. 2 seed in the Big East tournament but they came into this game with Creighton as a 3.5 point underdog. They, like Marquette, proved the oddsmakers wrong, as they demolished Creighton in the Big East semifinals Friday night, 82-60. This one was never even close as Xavier dominated throughout.

The Musketeers shot 47% from the floor and held Creighton to 39% shooting. They dominated on the boards and won the turnover battle. Souley Boum led four Musketeers in double figures with 23 points, 5 assists and 6 rebounds. Jack Nunge added 17 points and 7 boards, while Kam Jones had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Desmond Claude added 10 points with 4 steals for the Musketeers. Xavier is now 25-8. This is their first Big East finals appearance since 2004 and second overall.
