Marquette is once again near the top of the Big East standings as the schedule moves past the halfway point. At 8-2 in conference play, the Golden Eagles sit just one game in back of Xavier for the top spot in the conference. Marquette hasn't played for a week and will come into this matchup fresh. Last Saturday, Marquette dropped Seton Hall 74-53 for a critical road victory. Kam Jones led the way with 22 points and Oso Ighodaro added 18 points and six rebounds. The eight wins in the team's first ten conference games is the fastest start in conference play for Marquette since the 2018-19 season. Marquette is now ranked 16th in the country heading into Saturday's matchup.

Marquette has had one of the best offenses in the country and in the ACC. The Golden Eagles are eighth in the country in points per game and second in the Big East. Marquette's shooting has been outstanding, ranking fourth in the nation in field goal percentage. The Golden Eagles are, however, just 117th in the country in 3pt shooting. The team checks in at 44th in the nation in fewest turnovers per game and 3rd in the Big East. Defensively, Marquette is 196th in scoring defense this season. The team is ranked 206th in opponent's field goal percentage and 179th in 3pt field goal percentage.
