Maple Leafs vs. Devils Odds, Picks, Predictions: New Jersey Has Edge on Injured Torontoiv class=”bodyContent col-lg-9 mb-3″>

Missing some key pieces up front, the Toronto Maple Leafs face a tough matchup against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. Here's sports betting analyst Scott Cullen's top NHL pick based on the best NHL odds.

Tuesday brings a premier matchup when the teams in third and fourth place in the overall standings meet in New Jersey.

The Maple Leafs lost 4-1 at Vancouver on Saturday, but Toronto has delivered consistently strong results. Toronto's .646 points percentage over the past two months ranks seventh in that span.

While the Leafs have been very good since the calendar turned, the Devils have been a notch higher. New Jersey has gone an incredible 17-3-3 since Jan. 7,  good for an .804 points percentage which ranks second overall.

Here is our best Maple Leafs vs. Devils NHL pick (odds via DraftKings; pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Maple Leafs vs. Devils pick

Even at full strength, the Maple Leafs would face a tough test in New Jersey. With John Tavares and Ryan O'Reilly both out of the Toronto lineup, the Devils hold a clear edge.

The Leafs have struggled on the road, going just 4-5-1 in their last 10 away from Scotiabank Arena. Tuesday's task becomes all the more daunting with Tavares and O'Reilly out, because the Devils can focus their defensive attention on Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.

The Devils have eight wins in their past nine home games – and while five of those wins have come after 60 minutes, the Devils also have a plus-25 goal differential in the past 23 games, fourth-best in the league over the past two months.

More importantly for the Devils is that they're healthy. Jack Hughes has nine points in eight games since returning to the lineup and has received a left wing upgrade with the acquisition of Timo Meier, who scored in his Devils debut Sunday.

This is a quality matchup of two top teams, but the healthy home side is in a better position to take this game.
