The opening round of the SEC Tournament continues in Nashville when the LSU Tigers, seeded 14th, battle the 11th-seeded Georgia Bulldogs. LSU is 13-18 overall and just 2-16 in SEC play. Georgia finished the regular season with a record of 16-15 and 6-12 in the conference. The opening tap for this second game on Wednesday is scheduled for 9:00 PM EST.

LSU started the season strongly out of conference and it looks like the Tigers were ready for to make a run at an NCAA Tournament bid. But, after an 11-2 record out of conference, the Tigers plummeted in league play and won just two games during the regular season. LSU closed the regular season with 17 losses in 18 games. One of those losses came at the hands of Georgia on the road, 65-63. The Tigers nearly pulled off the road upset despite shooting just 38% from the field and committing 19 turnovers. KJ Williams led the way with 18 points and nine rebounds in a losing effort.

LSU has had to try to compete in the SEC this season with a nearly completely new roster as the team dealt with the specter of NCAA violations over the past few seasons. As a result, the Tigers had the worst record in the conference this season. Offensively, LSU finished 12th in scoring offense in league play. The Tigers were just 12th in field goal percentage but did finish fifth in 3pt offense. Defensively, LSU was fifth in the SEC in scoring defense but just 12th in opponent's field goal percentage. The Tigers did have the third best 3pt defense in the conference this year. LSU finished 10th in turnovers and 11th in total rebounding in the SEC.
