The Louisville Cardinals (2-11, 2-11 ATS, 2-10 O/U) battle the #19 Kentucky Wildcats (8-4, 4-8 ATS, 6-6 O/U) in an inter-conference bout on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals were dealt another road loss, this time against NC State in their previous action. The Wildcats dropped a road decision against Missouri on Wednesday. These foes last met in 2020 in a game Louisville won 62-59. 

The Louisville Cardinals are looking for their first win against a power conference opponent this season. It’s been a disastrous season for Louisville. They went 0-9 to begin the season and have only won two games all year. They beat Western Kentucky and Florida A&M in the two victories earlier this month. They were hit with a home loss by Lipscomb last week followed by a 76-64 road loss to NC State in a bout that had the Cardinals as 18-point dogs. The Cardinals have covered in one out of their last three clashes.

El Ellis is producing, sinking at least 24 points in two out of his last four games highlighted by 30 points against Western Kentucky. The senior guard is sporting an average of 17.1 PPG and 4.2 APG. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield has only netted double digits in one out of his last three games. The sophomore forward shot 62% last time out and has posted an average of 8.1 PPG and 6. 3 RPG. Jae’Lyn Withers has scored nine or fewer points in three consecutive games. The junior forward has filed an average of 8 PPG. 

The Cardinals are pegged 258th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and are 0-2 in ACC play including a home loss against Miami Florida. Louisville is 0-2 on the road. They are especially struggling offensively, scoring an average of only 61.4 points, ranking them 350th, and is shooting 40%.  The Cardinals are conceding an average of 73.5 points, positing them 300th.
