The Los Angeles Kings face the Nashville Predators with both teams looking to start the season strong. The Kings are in the middle of a five-game road trip to start the season while the Predators took their first two games overseas in the Global Series but have stumbled since, losing back-to-back games. Both teams are looking to improve in their divisions and improve in what is shaping up to be a competitive Western Conference.

The Kings have looked promising to start the season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.67 goals per game including seven goals in their recent win. Adrian Kempe, Alex Iafallo, and Anze Kopitar have scored five goals and seven assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Gabriel Vilardi and prized offseason addition Kevin Fiala have combined for three goals and four assists while defensemen Michael Anderson has added two assists from the point to help open up the offense.

While the offense has stepped up, the defense has struggled to start the season, allowing 4.67 goals per game. Drew Doughty and Michael Anderson have led the top pairing but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find plenty of open ice near the net to create easy scoring chances. With the Kings pla ying the second game of a back-to-back, they will look for Calvin Peterson to step up in the net as he has allowed six goals on 35 shots to start the season.
